Relaxing on the back porch

David William Carroll, born May 16, 1949 (Taurus) in Portland, Oregon of Florence E. and Cecil T. Carroll. Cecil worked as a street designer for the City of Portland. Florence worked as a secretary for the Bonnieville Power Administration. Florence divorced Cecil and married Russell F. Ames, a non-commssioned officer in the US Air Force in 1957. I have one half-brother, James, Florence's son by her first marriage.

I attended many schools due to my step-father's Air Force career, including elementary schools in Portland, Oregon (Gregory Heights, Rigler); Delake (now Lincoln City) Oregon; Everett, Washington; Mountlake Terrace, Washington; and high schools including Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Washington; USAF Dependents High School in Chateauroux, Indre, France in the Loire Valley; and I graduated with High Honors in 1967 from James Madison High School, Portland, Oregon.

I was awarded a full scholarship to Pomona College in Claremont, California upon graduation from High School. I was deeply involved with the school FM broadcast station, KSPC-FM, and participated in several campus events.

I also attended school at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) for one year.
